Tearing Apart the Guest Room

So...It is now time to prepare the guest room to become Michael's new room. This is the last room in the upstairs to be remodeled. I was not allowed to touch this room until my other projects were finished because I have a tendency to start stuff and not finish. I finally finished the bathroom, after only three years, so I am excited to get rid of the peach carpet and flowered wallpaper. I sold the full-size bed today and am working on selling my desk set. Once the bed was out of the room, I could not help but start tearing wallpaper off the wall at 7:00 at night. Michael helped by picking the paper up off the floor and putting it in the garbage bag. He is such a big helper and he can't wait for his new "dinosaur" room.

Got Smoothies?

His dad gave him his first smoothie and he has loved them ever since. Both his dad and his papa make smoothies, his papa more religiously than his dad, but whenever one is made they both share with Michael. As you can see, he really enjoys them and his face needs needs a good washing after every one.

Playdate with the Vanstrien Ladies

I love my December break as a teacher! This year we were able to take a trip to Tennessee, I started on Michael's new room and I was able to spend some time with my co-workers (whom I never get to see). Michael and I also caught up with my friend Caroline and her girls. It was nice to take the kids to Jungle Java where they could play and Caroline and I could talk. They had fun and I enjoyed time spent with a dear friend.

"You're Fired"

My sister posts conversations Addy has with others and I always get a kick out of them, so I thought I would post a recent conversation Michael and I had.

Michael took a late nap Thursday since he got up late. He woke up at about 4:00 and asked for a snack at around 4:30. He ate all his apple and then asked for another snack.

Mom: "You just had a snack, you will have to wait for another hour until daddy goes to get us some pizza.

Micheal: "But I am sooo hungry."

Mom: "I am sorry but you will have to wait."

Michael: "I am not happy. You make me sad."

Mom: "Well, sometimes when I say no you will be sad. That means I am doing my job."

Michael: "You're fired."

Needless to say, I was shocked, did the parent laugh with my back turned, thought about what I was going to say and responded with...

Mom: "That makes me sad. I guess I won't be your mom anymore."

Michael: "I want you to be my mom. You're not fired anymore."
